Tranz Am is known for his energetic live mixes and intense connection with the crowd! He spins all types of electronic dance music but few know it. He mainly concentrates his efforts on the hardcore Freeform genre and strays into the happy bouncy energetic side quite frequently.
Tranz Am’s mixing style comes from a wide variety of music. Coming from a Breaks, Trance, NRG, and House background, has given him multiple mixing techniques and ideas to utilize. Out of all the many ways to mix cds and vinyl he prefers to (what he calls) freestyle mix. Freestyle mixing (in his opinion) is the compleate opposite of a planed set. Basically no set points in witch to mix in or out of and its tottaly on the fly! In addition to this freestyle approach he quick mixes, this is where you mix out of the track playing early, rather than waiting till the end of the track to mix where it is a lot easier. “This is where its gets tricky” he says. When one quick mixes it takes a certain amount mathematical skill and memory of the track to make it sound good. Each track is made a little differently and trying to mix in or out at the wrong points can sometimes cause unsatisfactory results. Such problems include tempo change, loops, and clashing melodies. So while one is quick mixing and freestyle mixing together there is always that possibility, but knowing how to improvise is the key to correction. There is little planning that goes into one of his sets and they are never the same! He believes that there is something extra that comes to the performance when he mixes this way, Something thats hard to described. He believes that the constant moving and attention it takes to mix this way brings a higher level of energy to his sets. Even his demos are done freestyle. Usually just a once through too.
